A lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission…or EEOC says the University of Kansas Medical Center violated federal law when it fired a manager who alerted officials that his department head instructed staff to give hiring preference to millennial’s over older applicants. After IT help desk supervisor Jeffrey Thomas Reported the age bias to medical center officials…the vice Chancellor ordered the reorganization of the information resources department leading tot he elimination of Thomas’ position. The incident occurred in 2014. The suit was filed in U.S. district court in Kansas City ans seeks monetary relief for Thomas and other conditions. The conduct violated the anti-retaliation provision of the age discrimination in employment act of 1967 which prohibits employers form taking negative actions against employees who report age discrimination by their employer.
