U.S. congressman Steve Watkins’ campaign issued a following statement after Kansas State Treasurer, Jake Laturner, announced he will be suspending his U.S. Senate campaign to instead run for congress in Kansas’ 2nd district. In the statement, campaign spokesman Bryan Piligra says the difference between Watkins and Laturner could not be clearer, a life of service versus a life of self service. He states Watkins is a war veteran, engineer, and conservative leader who votes in support of the President 93% of the time. He says Laturner is a career politician who has voted for tax increases and sides with labor unions over hard-working Kansans, stating that Laturner’s entire career has been political ladder-climbing. He emphasizes that the climb ends in August.
