An Ottawa University student died this morning in Douglas county. In a statement, the university says 20-year-old Joseph Irelan of Erie died. University President Doctor Reggies Wenyika says the university is deeply saddened and that they are in communications with the student’s family and will provide all the needed support for them. OU will also offer grief counseling to those on campus requesting it along with other support services for students. faculty and staff as needed. Irelan’s death is being investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department. KOFO will have further detail as it becomes available.
