The franklin county conservation district or f-c-d-c  announced yesterday that it was awarded funding through a 2019 national association of conservation districts technical assistance  grant through a partnership with the U.S. department of agriculture  natural resources conservation service to build and strengthen technical capacity nationwide.

The Franklin county conservation district will use the grant funding to hire a conservation agronomist to advance sustainable agricultural practices and environmental outcomes in a multi-county area in east-central Kansas. The conservation agronomist will serve as a conservation leader in the area to foster and expand collaborative public-private partnerships with agricultural retailers, crop consultants, and other organizations that help advance a voluntary, incentive-based approach to private lands conservation.

The grant will allow FCCD to increase public education in order to better connect local farmers agronomic planning and implementation services with financial incentives available through the FCCD and USDA farm bill programs.
