As expected, the Ottawa City Commission is setting out to possibly recruit another organization to promote Ottawa’s Main Street district. Commissioners have been critical of the current Ottawa Main Street Association, among other things pointing out what some commissioners call a stale, tired organization. City manager Richard Nienstedt is drawing up a proposed request for proposals to solicit other organizations. He listed some of the things the commission should look for.
Commissioners also pointed out that they want interested organizations to submit a sample budget of how they would promote the downtown area. Nienstedt was instructed to make a few minor changes to his draft document and bring it back to the next commission study session.
