Effective October 1, your electric rates in Ottawa will go up by about 9%, with another 10% to take effect October 1, 2020. Ottawa utilities director Dennis Tharp says the electric department actually supports other activities.
Tharp pointed out that Ottawa rates for a long time have been up to 25% cheaper than neighboring cities. The electric rate increases were approved unanimously by the city commission.
