Recently the Paola city council approved raising the legal age to purchase tobacco products to 21 in Paola. The ordinance makes it unlawful for anyone under the age of 21 to purchase or attempt to purchase cigarettes, liquid nicotine or tobacco products in any form. That prompted a comment from USD 290 superintendent Doctor Ryan Cobbs. KOFO’s Jeff Brewer has details.
Paola joins more that 20 other cities in Kansas and hundreds all across the nation with similar laws, by minors. The ordinance is in effect upon publication in todays edition of the Miami County Republic.
