The state’s four congressional representatives have weighed in after this week’s announcement from Speaker Nancy Pelosi that the House of Representatives will move forward with an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump.
The state’s three republican congressmen- Ron Estes of Wichita, Roger Marshall of Great Bent, and Steve Watkins of Topeka- denounced the inquiry. Sharice Davids of Kansas City, supported the move.
Estes says since the day after the 2016 election, democrats have vowed to impeach President Donald Trump. Instead of impeachment, congress should focus on priorities like the USMCA and accomplishing results for the American people.
Marshall says he wishes that democrats were as devoted to making Americans lives better, instead of dividing them.
Watkins called it a witch hunt and democrats waving a white flag on the 2020 election.
Davids says no one is above the law and if true, it is a clear abuse of power and must be dealt with.
Neither of Kansas’ senators- Jerry Moran and Pat Roberts- have commented on the impeachment inquiry.
