September was disaster preparedness month and the theme was “Be Prepared, Not Scared.” Are you doing the things you need to be to be ready if a disaster strikes? It may be a fire, a flood, a tornado, or a blizzard. One of the most important aspects of being prepared for an emergency or disaster is to have a plan. Franklin County Emergency Management Coordinator Thomas Winter says, everyone needs a plan.
He also suggests getting involved with local groups that help in the event of a disaster, such as the Red Cross, or United Way so you can help others who may be suffering the effects of a disaster.
