The state’s total tax collections for September showed the continued trend upward at $744.1 million; $43.2 million above the estimate. And $48.2 million more that September of last year. Retail sales tax collections compensating use tax collections, individual and corporate income tax collections are above estimates, individual income tax collections corporate income tax collection are 23.7% or $19 million more than $80 million estimate.
Revenue Secretary Mark Burghart says, the state is seeing the increase in revenue in large part due to increases in regular and estimated individual and corporate income tax collections. Governor Coyer says, it’s a positive sign the state is slowly recovering from the Brownback-Coyler tax experiment. However, with economic uncertainty ahead in a possible recession, Kansas must remain cautious and continue to show fiscal restraint.
