Ottawa has just been hit by a massive tornado. Damage is catastrophic and widespread throughout the city and the county. How will the city and the county respond to the needs of all the people? This is a drill, it’s only an exercise. Franklin County Emergency Management wants to be ready in case the real thing actually happens. In a couple week they will be hosting a state wide mock disaster exercise to coordinate what would happen, if a tornado struck. Emergency Management Coordinator Thomas Winter says, we are lucky to have such good cooperation from all the agencies with our area.

This is the first time Ottawa has hosted a state wide exercise. Winter adds that nearly 100 officials from various state and local agencies will be on hand for the three day drill that will run from October 22nd through the 24th. He also says, it will be a great chance for Franklin County to show the skill and training we have here.
