A few weeks ago, it appeared that a new group might revamp the Ottawa Main Street Association to make it more responsive to the expectations of the city commission, but now it looks like it may not happen at all. During the city commission study session, Commissioner Sara Caylor and City Manager Richard Nienstedt discussed the matter.
Commissioners had earlier stated that the Main Street Association can certainly apply as the Main Street representative, but what might transpire can only await the application process.
The city of Ottawa formally opened the application procedure yesterday. Groups interested in providing economic development services have until noon November 1st to submit their proposal.
