Let’s say you’ve got about $2 million sitting around and you need something to spend it on. That’s the dilemma of USD 290. There’s interest money, insurance money, money from Lincoln Lot and a little bond money. Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs says the district would like to upgrade some amenities, starting with converting the football field and soccer field to turf. Why not just do one filed and move both sports to the same field? One word: scheduling.
Ottawa is the only school in the frontier district with grass fields. Cobbs says nothing has been decided yet. They want to make sure the bond issue projects are finished. They plan to take up the turf field issue in January.
