The Ottawa City Commission issued a proclamation at last week’s meeting recognizing October as breast cancer awareness month, but also recognized that all forms of cancer are a serious cancer. Karen Maclvain of the Franklin County Cancer Foundation accepted the proclamation and gave a message of hope.
The Franklin County Cancer Foundation celebrated it’s 21st year this year. The organization was founded out of the need to supply local people diagnosed with cancer with needed supplies and help with anything the might need.
The foundation has raised nearly $1 million, all of which stays here in Franklin County. The KOFO Cancer Awareness Telethon on Friday, raised over $5,500, all of which will be given to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation.
