It’s time to start thinking about Christmas, particularly if you would like to give to those in need. ECKAN and the countywide Spirit of Christmas Committee have started making plans for this Christmas season. For those adults and families that might need a little extra help this year, applications will be available at ECKAN starting Wednesday and run through November 13. Through the generosity of Anderson County residents, a food basket and gifts have been provided in the past and we need you help again this year! To join the effort, you as an individual, family, organization or business can “adopt” a child or family by calling or dropping by the ECKAN office. Also, the “Angel Trees” will be available again this year at the banks in Colony, Greeley, Kincaid and Westphalia, as well as City Hall, ECKAN and Yoder’s Country Store. There will also be an Angel Tree at the fire station during and after the Christmas Parade Thanksgiving weekend. If you prefer to make a cash donation, please make the check payable to ECKAN. All items should be taken to ECKAN by December 11. Distribution day will be Saturday, December 14 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. If you have questions, give the ECKAN office in Garnett a call. You can drop those donations off at the office at 132 E 5th in Garnett.
