Ottawa has just been hit by a massive tornado. Damage is catastrophic and widespread throughout the city and the county. How will the city and the county respond to the needs of all the people? This is a drill, it’s only an exercise. Franklin County Emergency Management wants to be ready in case the real thing actually happens. This week they will be hosting a statewide mock disaster exercise to coordinate what would happen, if a tornado struck. Emergency Management Director, Alan Radcliff says Franklin County has a leg up on most in the state.

This is the first time Ottawa has hosted a statewide exercise. Radcliff adds that nearly 100 officials from various state and local agencies will be on hand for the three day drill that will run tomorrow through Thursday. He also says it will be a great chance for Franklin County to show the skill, training, and capability we have here.
