The Anderson County Veteran’s Memorial is gaining steam. The County Commission recently approved the final design, which will be 41 feet long, 18 feet high and mimic the architectural style of the County Courthouse, complete with towers on each end. The County Veteran’s Memorial Committee hopes that construction on the northeast side of the Courthouse Lawn will begin in the spring of 2020. The committee stresses the importance of having the correct information to add to the memorial kiosks. All those names are printed in last week’s edition of the Anderson County Review. They ask that families review the names and if there are any changes or corrections, or if someone would like a name added, they ask that you contact the County Clerk’s Office as soon as possible. Honorably discharged veterans will be accepted to be included by the committee if the veteran was born in Anderson County, had moved or was raised in Anderson County or resides in Anderson County. Any names that would like to be added must provide proof of service such as an obituary, or any other documents that will show when the veteran served.
