Fire crews from several local rural fire departments responded to the scene of a barn fire at 45900 John Brown Drive in Rantoul early this morning. The call came in about 3 this morning and first responders found the structure fully engulfed when they arrived. As firefighters poured water onto the barn, the roof collapsed, followed shortly by two of the walls. Officials were initially worried about a large gas tank was empty. A truck and various piece of equipment were in the shed as it burned. The building was owned by Matthew Ulrich. Firefighters extinguished the flames and were clear of the scene about 5:45 damage estimates are not known and the fire is under investigation.
