If you notice a large number of people and emergency management and response vehicles on Third and Hickory and at the jail and at Ottawa Memorial Auditorium, never fear, it’s just a drill. Franklin County Emergency Management is part of a large scale drill this week to simulate the county’s response to a disaster. Franklin County Emergency Management Director Alan Radcliffe say normally in a drill, things are laid out clearly to local departments, but this time, it will be a little different.
The drill will also utilize the emergency operations center, which is on the top floor of the Franklin County Jail. Radcliff says that everything will be simulated and there will not be a large scale movement of equipment and resources around the county. The exercise is funded by the homeland security department.
