For the first time in it’s history, vapes and cartridges will be accepted throughout Kansas on the National Drug Takeback Day on Saturday. U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister says that everyone is welcome to dispose of vaping devices and liquids on that day to get the products off the streets and out of the hands of children. As usual, the sites participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration-sponsored event also will accept prescription drug tablets, capsules and patches. According to the 2018 National Survey of Drug Use and Health, nearly 10 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study showed a majority of those drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
During the most recent National Drug Takeback Day in April, more than 468 tons of unused drugs were collected.
