Franklin County roads seem to come up at every county commission meeting, and this time road grader operators came up for discussion. County Administrator Derek Brown says there should only be one method of grading a road.
Public Works Director David Lee answered several questions about the progress of road repair, or lack of progress in the view of some county residents. Lee once again emphasized that the repeated flooding and other adverse weather events this year has set back road maintenance by perhaps several years. He says he and his crews are doing the best they can with what they have. He says some may criticize that his department is doing business as normal, but that’s not the case. Lee says in many cases the best his crews could do this year was try to care for the roads in ways that keep them from simply getting obliterated.
