Emergency agencies need to know how to respond in case of disaster, and that’s why a simulated tornado hitting Ottawa sets the backdrop for a 3-day practice emergency in which various agencies learn to work together. Ottawa Assistant Fire Chief Shawn Dillon says each agency has a certain viewpoint on their role in emergencies.
The simulation covers 3 days and was paid for by a $75,000 grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
