No one knows the anguish of potholes like Ottawa Public Works Director Michael Haeffle. He probably has nightmares about giant holes swallowing him up time and time again. The city started aggressively filling potholes in early June, but the rains kept a comin’. He says it looks like it could be a long road back to smooth streets.

That’s right, over 8,000 potholes and still going strong. The repeated cycle of cold and thaw this winter, then rain and heat this summer have place a big task ahead of repair crews. Haeffle encourages people to call the public works department and report any hole you think needs attention.
