A disaster simulation in Ottawa involving dozens of emergency officials from Franklin County and surrounding counties has already resulted in lessons learned for emergency preparedness. Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Richards says simulating an emergency helps to focus on what role different agencies would play in handling a disaster.
The emergency simulation involved a massive tornado hitting Ottawa and how area agencies would react in rescue and recovery situations. The project costs $75,000 and is paid for by a grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
