The attorney for a Garnett man charged in an April armed standoff with law officers may reach a plea deal with the Anderson County Prosecutor’s Office next week. A plea hearing has been scheduled on the Anderson County District Court docket on Monday for the 24-year-old Joseph Daulton. Daulton, who held officers at bay for several hours April 24 after an alteration with his grandmother at her residence on north Maple Street in Garnett originally faced multiple felony charges. Investigators say Daulton got into an argument with his grandmother that morning. She was able to leave the residence with a family friend, and later reported to officers that her grandson was at the home with a firearm. Joseph Daulton barricaded himself in the house when officers showed up to confront him, leading to a standoff of several hours. He surrendered just as a special tactics team was set to move against the house. Daulton has been held in the Anderson County Jail since then in lieu of bond. Daulton’s hearing is set for 11:30 Monday morning.
