As the election approaches a week from tomorrow, local candidates want to get their ideas out to the public. City Commissioner Tom Weigand is finishing his first term and would like to be voted in for another. He says the past two years have been a time of learning, questioning and discovering things he didn’t know and things that need improvement, including budget issues. One thing he says is very important is the housing boom in Ottawa, concerning property taxes.
He adds that he is very happy to see the growth and redevelopment in downtown Ottawa and sees it as important to the overall growth of the city over the next few years. The election will be held Tuesday November 5. Polls will be open from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening.
