The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has started a new program to keep closer contact with school districts who don’t have a School Resource Officer, also known as an SRO. Sheriff Jeff Richards says it amounts to a part-time SRO.
Richards says Central Heights and West Franklin are both participating in the program. He says Officer Jessie Vega came up with the idea as part of his promotion to Sargent. There is no cost to the school.
