A long career with the Ottawa Police Department has come to a close for one officer. Lieutenant A.J. Schmidt is retiring after handling many different kinds of crimes. Police Chief Adam Weingartner says it all started 20 years ago. Weingartner also says Schmidt was responsible for training new officers and paid tribute to Schmidt as someone victims could go to for comfort and justice.
