The election results in the Garnett City Commission race last night were close. In the end, incumbent Commissioner Greg Gwin outlasted challenger Eugene Grimes, winning the race 256 votes to 212 votes. Now that the commission is set for another few years, they can get to work on a couple of different issues that face the city. One is the proposed construction of a new water plant at Crystal Lake which customers have been paying for with higher water rates for some time. Commissioner Bridgette Brecheisen Huss’s term expires in January of 2021, Commissioner Jody Cole’s term expires in January of 2022.
