Anderson County Clerk Julie Wettstein wants to remind everyone that the canvass of the recent election will be held Friday at the Anderson County Courthouse. That election saw incumbent Mayor Greg Gwin defeat challenger Eugene Grimes 256 votes to 212 votes. Two main issues were addressed before the election. Gwin believes proposed construction of a new water plant at Crystal Lake is most vital. He says customers have been paying for it for quite some time with higher water rates and it’s time to get construction rolling on the project. Commissioner Bridgette Brecheisen Huss’ term expires in January of 2021, Commissioner Jody Cole’s term expires in January of 2022.
The other Anderson County race involved a school district board position. In that race, Nicky Denny defeated Scott Rodgers 419 votes to 276 votes. Wettstein says none of the results are official until the canvass of all votes on Friday.
