Well-known chef and cookbook author Marian Getz didn’t have the kind of childhood that most of us would be familiar with. Getz works with Wolfgang Puck in selling cookware on the home shopping network, and she recently was the special speaker at Ottawa University as part of the Hostetter-Defries lecture series. Getz says she grew up in Africa.
Getz recall one time when some jackal pup they adopted came down with rabies, and because she and her siblings had handled the pups, each child had to get a series of painful rabies shots. She says that experience brought back to her family a scripture that promises God would deliver in times of trials.
