As winter comes on, some producers are wondering if they have enough feed and hay. Some have a lot; others experienced wet fields and couldn’t get it put up in a timely manner. There is a way to stretch out the forage through the early part of winter. Frontier Extension Agent, Darren Hibdon says you can take advantage of grazing corn, milo and even soybeans stubble, something that used to be done years ago, but not much anymore. He says it may be worth revisiting.
He adds that availability of water and fencing could be an issue, but the money you could save on feed could be worth buying some temporary fencing.
