An accident in Osage County last night left one person dead and five others injured. The accident occurred just before 8, on highway 75, just North of West 299th Street. A vehicle driven by 20-year-old Darian Hess from Topeka was Northbound on 75 and attempted to pass a semi truck, and didn’t have enough room. He struck a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Amber Walters of Lyndon, head on. A passenger in Hess’s vehicle, 24-year-old Jennarene Hawkins of Burlingame, was killed in the crash. Hess was taken to KU Medical Center with serious injuries.
Walters and the three children in her vehicle were injured and taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Walters with serious injuries, 9-year-old Daymian Walters also suffered serious injuries, 2-year-old Serenity Quinonez and 1-year-old Cherish Roney had minor injuries. According to the Kansas Highway.
