The Ottawa Police Department has released the year to date crime data for the city. Crime has gone up slightly, however, that is based on only 5 more reported crimes. Police Chief Adam Weingartner says he really wants to keep in pace with the 23% reduction in 2018 compared to 2017. He says that the majority of crimes committed in Ottawa are burglaries and thefts from unlocked vehicles.
He adds that overall, Ottawa is a very safe community and he encourages people to be aware in their neighborhood of those who maybe out to steal packages being delivered for Christmas.
