With all the gloom and doom in the world, let’s hear about something good going on right here in Ottawa. Some neighbors around Garfield Elementary school got yard work done the past couple of weeks thanks to some special projects by the Garfield staff and students. Physical Education teacher Shawn Hermann says one project was quite memorable.
Garfield Principal Carmen Schaefer says the projects are part of something called “WIN Time” and it stands for “What I Need.” Schaefer says some kids build special projects that help in their understanding of certain math concepts.
