The USD 365 School District is going to slow down a bit when it comes to new facilities and equipment upgrades. At a recent school board meeting, Superintendent Don Blome told the board that architect and building firm estimates were higher than anticipated. The 16 projects planned in the district initially came in at just over $2 million, however new estimates totaled about $5.5 million. The estimate to enclose the courtyard at the high school tripled to over $3 million. The plan was to turn it into usable classroom or facility space. Other projects included HVAC replacement and window replacement at the high school, remodeling of various classrooms, replacement of lighting and floor tiles, removal of the trophy case and expansion of the lunchroom serving line, two new buses, building repairs, roofing repairs and work on the high school driveway. The projects were assigned by priority over the next three years, with the window replacement leading the list in 2020-2021.
