Ottawa University has announced it has received a $730,000 challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation for renovation of the Mabee Center on campus as well as a major new addition to the building. OU Campus President Dr. Reggies Wenyika says the $4 million project will be a tremendous asset for all students.
The Mabee Center renovation will include new flooring, installation of an air conditioning system and bathrooms, both of which the facility has never had, new basketball goals and volleyball nets, and refurbishment of the racquetball court.
The new varsity performance center will be constructed on the north side of the Mabee building between Mabee and the commons. The state-of-the-art weight and fitness facility for all student athletes will feature cardio equipment, free-weights, lifting racks, an indoor sprint turf and specialized equipment for the newly added men and women’s powerlifting teams.
