With the National Weather Service issuing Winter Weather Warnings and Advisories for our area and the impending storm, United Way of Franklin County is opening the first Emergency Homeless Shelter of the season tonight. Interim Director Leigh Hanson says that they can’t take pets and that all bags will be checked. All medications and weapons will be kept in their safe and no one intoxicated, either alcohol or drugs, will be allowed, and smoking is not allowed at any time. If you or someone you know is in need of safe and warm shelter gather at the Ottawa Library parking lot. Transportation to the shelter leaves the lot at 6:45 this evening and will transport all clients back to the library parking lot, leaving the shelter at 6:45 sharp tomorrow morning.
