The Ottawa Public Works Department is keeping busy trying to keep streets passable during the snowstorms. Public Works Directors Michael Haeffele told the city commission that his crews are doing something different when clearing the downtown.
Haeffele says highways clear up faster because crews use pure salt and also the fact that traffic goes much faster, which means there’s much more tire heat than in town where traffic goes much slower.
