School was cancelled yesterday for the second day following the snow on Sunday and Monday. Some may wonder how the decision is made to cancel school. There is no set policy on how much snow or how cold it is to cancel school. USD 290 Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs says superintendents have the authority to make the decision based on keeping students safe and on what condition the county roads are in.
He added that they will always err on the side of caution to avoid a tragedy. He also says that he and 12 other area superintendents collaborate on the conditions to make the decision.
