The Elizabeth Layton Center, or ELC, has announced it has received a substantial gift from the Wint and Nancy Winter trusts and are establishing the Winter Family Depression Care Endowment Fund to provide care and support for their clients education, prevention and treatment of clinical depression and related illnesses. Layton Center Executive Director Leslie Bjork says that depression will affect one in four Americans in some way.

ELC plans to use the funding to offset the cost of services for those seeking treatment for depression, provide training on depression treatment for community leaders, including teachers and develop outreach groups for the community around identifying and reducing the risk for depression.

If you or someone you know is in need of care for depression, she urges you to call them at 242-3780, or call the 24-hour crisis hotline at 1-800-241-1266. Give us a call here at KOFO if you need those numbers.
