Last week the Elizabeth Layton Center announced they had received a substantial financial gift from the Wint and Nancy Winter Foundation to establish the Winter Family Depression Care Endowment Fund to provide care and support for their clients education, prevention and treatment of clinical depression and related illnesses. One area the center plans on using the funds is to offset the cost of services for those seeking treatment from depression who may not have insurance coverage. Elizabeth Layton Center Director Leslie Bjork explains.
She adds that they will be offering a mental health first aid program to local leaders including teachers to help identify and reduce the risk of depression.
