Fire crews from several different fire departments responded to a report of a fire at Collins Gymnasium on the Baker University campus in Baldwin early this morning. The call came in shortly after 3 and when crews arrived they found flames coming from the roof of the building.
A fire attack crew entered the building and worked through the heavy smoke and discovered the fire was contained to the roof of the building. Trucks sprayed water continuously for over half an hour to extinguish the flames. Shortly after 4 the fire was declared out. At this time crews are still on the roof of the building assessing the situation. The cause of the fire is unknown.
