Osawatomie State Hospital officials are working to correct problems identified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Inspectors during a surprise inspection in November. According to the Miami County Republic, the hospital’s superintendent, Dr. Kristin Feeback says the issues were primarily documentation errors and she and the staff are correcting them. The hospital already submitted a plan of correction and says they have received verification that the plan has been approved and they are waiting for another unannounced visit to check and make sure the Adair Unit is compliant. If the hospital is not cleared by March 1, 2020, CMS threatened to once again terminate Medicare payments to the Adair Unit.
The Republic indicates that Feeback assures that she feels confident and says Adair Acute Care and Osawatomie State Hospital staff are dedicated and committed to providing excellent care to their patients day in and day out, and their greatest priority is the health and safety of every person they treat.
