The city of Osawatomie has a new assistant city manager. Former Assistant Meagan Borth resigned to accept a position in Lake Jackson, Texas.
In a news release Tuesday, city officials says after an intensive search, which resulted in interviews with four capable candidates from across the region, interim city manager Mike Smith decided to promote an internal applicant. Samantha Moon, longtime Osawatomie resident and current Osawatomie Public Library Staff Member, will be joining the City Hall staff as assistant to the city manager effective Monday. Miss Moon studied English and creative writing at Baker University and spent 15 years working in grocery retail, reaching the position of store manager, before joining the library staff in July 2019. She has also served in a variety of community service positions, including several years on the former John Brown Jamboree Committee and as the current Vice President of the library’s board of directors.
