The Ottawa Police Foundation was the recipient of two gifts in 2019 that will benefit dare camp. It was the biggest year for the foundation on record. One gift was from the Gibson Family Foundation. Chief Adam Weingartner explains what the gifts mean to the community.
Dare stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education and is a camp for area 5th graders that through a variety of activities, helps students to recognize and resist the direct and subtle pressures that influence them to experiment with alcohol, tobacco, and illegal and prescription drugs. It also teaches them to resolve conflicts peacefully.
