The last couple days have been busy for the Ottawa Police Department. Officers responded to at least 9 auto burglaries in residential areas in Ottawa. Nearly all from unlocked vehicles, crimes of opportunity the incidents took place mostly from 7th to 15th street on the West side. With the warm weather tends to increase burglaries in the area. Police Chief Adam Weingartner says there is a simple solution to reducing the number of crimes.
He says people are calling in suspicious activity, and believes having a patrol car cruise the area wards off many potential crimes. He encourages people to continue to call in any suspicious activity as soon as you see it happen, and lock your car!
