New Ottawa Mayor Tom Weigand has made more housing a priority in Ottawa in the upcoming year. Ottawa has seen a housing boom the past year and those units have filled a big void for many in town in need of affordable housing. However, it’s not enough. The project on North Cherry and Enterprise opened 44 units to families, but, there is a waiting list of over 200 people. Community Development Director Wyndee Lee says there will be a call for more housing projects in the near future.
She adds that as Ottawa continues to grow economically, the need for affordable housing will only increase and more projects will be needed to fill the void.
