CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, has been helping kids in our area for a long time. Volunteers work with kids as a mentor while they are in the foster care system. They are advocates for kids in foster care, assigned a case by the district attorney and are either removed from the home because of abuse or working with the Department of Children and Family Services because of concerns. Director of CASA Chrissy Stumbo says children in need of care cases, or CNC, are on the rise.

They are in need of 60 volunteers in a four-county area, including Franklin, Anderson, Osage and Coffey counties. If you would like to help, contact Chrissy at the Franklin County United Way, or give us a call here at KOFO and we will put you in touch with the right people.
