You already know that when you go get groceries in Kansas, you always pay a sales tax. Many other states have little or no sales tax on food. Franklin County Health Department Director Midge Ransom says many in the legislature want to do away with the food tax.
Ransom says one proposal would involve a rebate on food sales tax at the end of the year, but going without that money all year long would hit low income families the hardest.
